Jersey Surf to appear in new Stomp!
IMAX feature film

by Chris Hollenback, DCW Editor

The Jersey Surf drum and bugle corps will appear in uniform in an IMAX film featuring "Stomp!" as well as percussion and dance ensembles from around the world.

Bob Jacobs, corps director, said the corps will have 40 members marching and playing a corps-style cadence across the Brooklyn Bridge while a stepping group from New York City crosses from the other direction. Cameramen are scheduled to film the group on the bridge from helicopters this coming weekend.

"Filming will take place on location on Saturday, January 19," said Brian Toth, Jersey Surf Assistant Director of Operations. "We'll be rehearsing with the ensemble on Thursday evening in South Jersey and on location Friday with the Stomp! cast members."

The film, "Pulse: A Stomp Odyssey," will likely be released in May 2002, Jacobs said, and shown world wide. The movie will feature Stomp! cast members performing with percussionists in various locales throughout the world.
