A former director of the Harrisburg Westshoremen is forming an alumni corps for a concert on April 27.
"It's going to be a one time and done type of thing," said Bill Toomey, the director in 1998 and 1999 and most recently the drill instructor for the New York Skyliners. The only performance will be a concert at the Serenade in Brass on April 27.
"The main reason for that is we don't have any money," Toomey said with a chuckle. The group is plans to use the competitive Harrisburg Westshoremen's equipment and wear a make-shift uniform, including black pants and shoes with a royal blue golf shirt that has a Westshoremen Alumni logo on it... ...The first rehearsal is next week Saturday at noon at Steelton Highspire High School. The rehearsal will be well-planned, but rest assured that plenty of thought will also go into the post-rehearsal party, with plenty of frosty beverages, Toomey said.
