Electronics and amplification
Division II/III directors would vote no
by Ken Mason, DCW Staff

Corps directors of DCI Division II/III units will not have a vote when the DCI Board decides this weekend whether to pass the rule change proposal to allow electronics and amplification into competition for 2003. But since this major change would affect them, Drum Corps World ran a poll this week to find out how they would vote if they could.

They were asked the following:
If the members of DCI Division II/III could each vote at the upcoming DCI Rules Congress, what would your votes be on the attached proposals for:

- pit amplification
- electronic instruments

The results were:

Pit amplification: 8 yes, 13 no.
Electronic instruments: 6 yes, 15 no.

Thirteen directors did not respond prior to press time, and one director abstained.

Voting rights at DCI Division II/III meetings are earned by every unit that competes at one of the DCI Division II/III focus shows or the DCI Championships. Currently, 36 active units have such voting rights.
