Revolution makes strategic alliances

Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps, already as strong this winter as it has ever been, has formed a new partnership with the San Antonio Stampede professional football team.
The Stampede Foundation was created with the mission of giving local high school band students and cheerleaders opportunities to perform around the city; now it has been absorbed by the Revolution organization. Revolution is now able to be the vehicle to fulfill the Stampede Foundations mission, by fielding a drum corps (Revolution), a winter guard (Liberty), and, starting next fall, an all-city marching band. In return, the football team gives these organizations performance opportunities around the city -- as well as its financial backing -- which is always a welcome event in the world of drum corps.
This summer, Revolution will be performing at some of the Stampedes UPFL football games in June. In the future, Revolution plans to have joint auditions for the city marching band and the drum corps, and tap local band directors for instructors in the all-city marching band, who will in turn bring their top students to the organization.
New to the Revolution organization this year is their winter guard, Liberty. The group is currently entering a full competition season in the Texas Educational Colorguard Association circuit. They will also be competing at the Houston and Tulsa WGI regionals. As an "Independent World" winter guard, Liberty was able to attract some older, more experienced members who will not be associated with the Revolution guard in the summer but have already passed on a lot of their experience to the members who will march during the summer.
Their program, entitled "Reflections of the Past," utilizes Annie Lennoxs music, "Why?" While not being specifically about the September 11 terrorist attacks, the show is about how Americans have dealt with tragedy throughout their history.
As for the Revolution corps proper, things have never looked better...
