DCA returns to Butler, PA with huge lineup for 2002
by Tom Peashey, DCW Staff

DCA President, Mickey Petrone, has announced that one of the longest-running and most prestigious championships in drum corps -- the Butler, PA American International Open -- has been added to the 2002 summer DCA schedule.

Petrone has been working with well known drum corps show promoter Andy Yaracs to revive this American drum corps institution. So far, eight senior corps have been scheduled into the familiar confines of Butler High School Stadium for the 8:00 PM show on August 3, 2002.

In competition will be: DCA World Champion Syracuse Brigadiers, 2001 runner up Reading Buccaneers, recent champion and world champion showmen the Empire Statesmen, the always-popular Rochester Crusaders, Canada's DCA representative Kingston Grenadiers, Orlando's ambassadors of fun in the sun Heat Wave and the home town corps, Butler's Allegheny Night Storm. The newcomer, NY-Penn Knights, will also be there. It will be DCA's westernmost show.
