The $99.7 million renovation project for Camp Randall Stadium, site of the 2002 DCI World Championships, has been put on hold. The delay is not good news for DCI because the work that creates inconveniences for the championships is already underway, and the delayed work wouldn't have had much affect anyway.
The bad news for Midwest drum corps fans is that if the work resumes in a year as planned, it will be wrapping up during the summer of 2005, when DCI had plans to return the championships to the renovated Camp Randall Stadium.
"At this point, the renovation project has been temporarily placed on hold," said Dan Acheson, DCI Executive Director. "While this won't affect the experience fans have viewing the performances, it could force some changes in how fans will enter and exit the stadium and the location of the DCI Festival Marketplace..."
