DCW editor resigns, new assistant editor hired
Drum Corps World Editor and Webmaster Chris Hollenback has resigned, effective May 22. Kelly Bitter, an alumna of Capital Sound, is the new assistant editor of the paper. Bitter will work alongside Steve Vickers, editor and publisher, and Ricky Fritzsching, who will update the Web site.
Hollenback will join the communications team at American Family Insurance, where he will work at the corporate headquarters in Madison, WI.
"I plan to stay involved in the activity, volunteering for corps and writing stories on occasion," Hollenback said. He marched in the Northmen of Green Bay, WI from 1988 to 1990 and the Madison Scouts from 1991 to 1997. His father was a member of the Los Angeles Imperials and a former member and director of the Americanos. "My family has been involved in drum corps for generations," Hollenback said, "and it will always be in my blood."
Bitter played soprano for Capital Sound in 1999 and mellophone in 2000. She recently graduated from Winona State University in Winona, MN with degrees in Mass Communication-Journalism and French. Bitter edited the Winonan, the university's student newspaper.
"I'm happy to join the staff at Drum Corps World," Bitter said, "and I'm looking forward to an exciting drum corps season."
