If you are planning to be in Madison, WI, for the Drum Corps International Championships, please stop by the Drum Corps World booth on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. It will be located in lot 19, just south of the stadium, at the corner of Breese Terrace and Regent Street.
On Thursday and Saturday, long-time DCW staff members Lynn and Ed Trautner will be there taking new and renewal subscriptions, selling copies of the 1967 American Legion and CYO Nationals DVDs released this spring and visiting with fans and corps members who stop by.
Jerry and Janet Fritz will be at the booth on Friday. Jerry wrote for the newspaper in the 1980s and has been a fan of the activity since the mid-1950s. He and Janet are looking forward to seeing old friends and making news ones during the time they will be helping at the DCW tent.
And we’re offering a very special deal only during DCI . . .
NEW SUBSCRIBERS who sign up for one or two years at the booth during DCI week will receive a FREE copy of the High Brass CD “Time for a Change,” a $21.00 value. High Brass is the big band from the United Kingdom that is made up almost entirely of former drum corps members from various British drum and bugle corps. They debuted their new compact disc in January at the International Jazz Educators Conference in New York City. The selections are mosly drum corps favorites and the group is outstanding.
Also available at the booth . . .
* Sets of back issues (volume 33 — April 2004 to March 2005; and volume 34 — April 2005 to March 2006)
* Four DCI record albums from 1979, 1984 and 1988
* Larry McCormick’s “When Drum Corps Was Really Drum Corps” five-volume video set
A complete list of corps we still need photographs of for the DCI picture book being published this fall will be posted for those who might be able to help us find images of specific groups from specific years.
Please stop by and say hello . . . and if you’re not currently a subscriber, sign up to receive 18 newspapers during the next year!
