Blue Devils will be profiled on “Extra” August 9

A short segment from the documentary “11 1/2 Minutes” will be shown on the nationally-synidicated magazine show “EXTRA” that will air on Tuesday, August 9, during DCI Championships Week.

The program airs on most NBC network affiliates at either 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM. Check your local listings for the exact time it will be shown in your area. The program is also seen across Canada and has a nightly viewership of an estimated 4 million people.

This exposure will not only be good for the Blue Devils, but also for the worldwide drum and bugle corps activity as it calls attention to the movement that many feel has been one of America’s best-kept secrets for decades.

Drum Corps World staff member Rob Sheiffele was executive producer of the documentary and he is currently a producer with “EXTRA.” He and filmmaker John Christensen put the film together profiling the Concord, CA, Blue Devils and how they put together their award-winning field shows each season. An advertisement for the DVD version has appeared in the summer issues of Drum Corps World this season.

Both Sheiffele and Christensen also produced a new 30-second television commercial for Drum Corps World that will air during the ESPN2 telecast of the Drum Corps International Championships highlights. The two-hour program will be shown nationwide at 9:00 PM Eastern time on Tuesday, September 6. ESPN2 is expected to show the program in one-hour segments within two weeks of the initial airing in the afternoon following the close of local school days and then additional times throughout the next year, either as the orignal two-hour program or the one-hour programs separately.
