All-Star Drum Corps seeks participants

The Gulf Coast Drum Corps Association and Gulf Coast Sound Drum & Bugle Corps will host the seventh annual all-star drum corps Mardi Gras weekend on Galveston Island. Participation is open to past and present members of any drum corps. Previous All- Star Drum Corps participants have included members of the Caballeros, Carolina Gold, Cavaliers, CorpsVets, Syracuse Brigadiers, Empire Statesmen, Erie Thunderbirds, Heat Wave, Kilties, Madison Scouts, Mighty St. Joes, Minnesota Brass, Inc., Santa Clara Vanguard and many others.

The weekend will begin with a rehearsal the evening of February 13, followed by a welcoming party catered with good food and drink. Participants will load a charter bus Saturday morning and head to the historic Strand District of Galveston Island for the Z- Krewe Processional (http://zkrewe.com/). After the parade participants will be admitted to the festival area free of charge to enjoy the celebration. Saturday evening the corps will perform in the Krewe of Gambrinus (http://www.kreweofgambrinus.org/) Seawall Parade. This infamous trek includes almost four miles of the beautiful Texas Coast and 300, 000 spectators!

Registration is $35.00 and includes transportation to and from events, food and drink for a great party Friday night, admission to The Strand Historic District and a guaranteed-to-be-tacky shirt to commemorate the event!

The publication covers World and Open Class Drum Corps International corps, Open and Class A Drum Corps Associates corps, alumni, mini-, parade and standstill units, as well as the growing activity in Europe, the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Philippines and South Africa.
