Kilties extend invitation to alumni

Former members of the Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps are being invited to participate in a new message board and forum set up specifically for them.

“It is important to the Kilties as an organization and as a family to extend a welcome to our alumni to again be an integral part of our organization,” said Executive Director Mike Phillips. “We are truly a family in every sense of the word, and we want a channel for our alumni to reconnect with one another as well as be informed as to what is happening with the corps at all times.”

The new alumni site, which can be accessed by invitation only, features a message board, a venue to post and comment on past and present photos, current contact information (for members that wish to have that information available) and an event calendar. Visitors to the site will be able to post news of their own, check out possible standstill performance opportunities via the Kiltie Klassics, become aware of volunteer and support opportunities for the organization, or keep up on the progress of the current competitive arm of the Kilties.

“It’s all about pulling our alumni back into the organization,” said Phillips. “We want very much to expand our organization to include members, both past and present. There are terrific things going on right now, and we want everyone to be a part. We have 67 years worth of alumni out there. We’d like to hear from them again.”

The corps is also seeking an alumnus or group of alumni to sponsor the site. Cost of sponsorship for one year is $100.

Any alumni wishing an invitation to the site should e-mail their request including the year(s) they marched with the corps and what section of the corps they were in to kiltiesalumni@yahoo.com. After the request has been processed, an invite to the site will be e-mailed back to the alumni within three business days, but in most cases, within 24 hours. Anyone wishing to sponsor the site can also include that information with their initial request.
