DCI Foundation, Inc. Scholarship

This organization (not affiliated with Drum Corps International) manages the Caballaros Trust Fund, established in 1989 to honor the name and perpetuate the values of the Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps that existed for many years in Cleveland, OH, and to assist other struggling, small, community-based units.

To be eligible for the "Caballeros Award," a corps must meet the following requirements:

  1. Consist of no more than 90 members.
  2. Financial need must be demonstrable on the basis of the application.
  3. The corps must be considered a "struggling" drum and bugle corps by the endowment committee.
  4. The corps must be currently competing.

The DCI Foundation, Inc. also manages the "Avant Garde Scholarship." This $1,000 award is presented to the individual who achieves the highest percussion score at the DCI Individual and Ensemble Competition. The fund was set up to remember the junior corps that represented Saratoga Springs, NY, from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s.
