I’ve been at this “hobby,” producing issues for nearly 46 years, starting in June 1973 as editor and purchasing the tabloid newspaper a year later.I’m proud, needless to say, of the significant number of issues that have come off my drawing board and, for the past 30+ years, created on a series of Apple computers using desktop publishing.Making note of the increased number of pages, the calendar year 2018 showcased 1,647 pages, an increase of 9% over 2017 when it was 1,511. Since going onto the Internet in May 2011, I’ve been able to grow the number of yearly pages by 51%!Of course, because the on-line magazine has been provided at no charge to readers all over the world since 2011, it’s through the support of all the great manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and sponsors advertising regularly and also the writers and photographers who have been loyally covering the activity’s events, all making Drum Corps World possible! A hearty thank you to everyone!Steve Vickers Support our advertisersYamaha Corporation of America ....... 2-3Director’s Showcase International ..... 4-5TAMA Percussion .................... 9Jarvis Industries .................... 11FJM, Inc. .......................... 13Lone Star Percussion ................ 19Bugles Across America ............... 21Band Shoppe ....................... 23Pearl Corporation ................... 25A Wish Come True ................... 27CrownDigital / The Crown Store ........ 29Key Poulan Music ................... 31Fruhauf Uniforms ................... 33Vater Percussion .................... 35Schilke Music ...................... 39DeMoulin Bros. My first contact with anyone from that province was through a drum corps directory produced by Don Daber featuring groups across Ontario and Quebec.I purchased a button sold by Andre Theriault for his corps, Les Sphinx from Ste. Therese, QUE (below right). That was about 1964. He and I have stayed in touch over the decades and he’s still following the movement by releasing periodic newsletters that keeps Quebec fans informed about their favorite pastime.Les Titans started several years ago and the group has participated in DCI’s SoundSport division the few years by appearing in Indianapolis at the Saturday appearances staged in Pan Am Plaza and inside the adjoining pavilion.Staff member Bruno Bergeron is working on a plan to further revive the formation of new corps in his home province beyond Les Titans and the return to the field of Les Stentors this summer.I wanted to find out more about how this new corps came about and what they have planned for the future. Emilie Goulet-Blouin is the director of communications for Les Titans.Steve Vickers: Tell me about how Les Titans came into existence, when it was started and where you are located.
