arlier this year I did an interview with Randy Ferrie about a project he and others were organizing. I’ve known him for over 40 years, since he came to Madison to march with the Madison Scouts.Two of the other organizers -- Chris Killian and Kevin McDermott -- recently e-mailed me about plans that have or are being finalized for the occasion. The Syracuse Brigadiers senior corps was on the field to compete at the August 21, 1965 “Drums Along the Mohawk” drum corps contest in Utica, NY. As their show progressed, more and more of their members started passing out, until there were 10 that had dropped. An ambulance was called onto the field to tend to the fallen, and the Brigadiers actually had to march around the ambulance for more than half of their time on the field. ....Read More
